As one of our calendar models, Kiley loved hiking and we thought that was a great idea for the calendar.
After all, we DO live in the great Northwest and what better thing to show than hiking and Douglas Firs?
Kiley was paid $50 for her little hike. I liked this area of Spencers Butte because it was close to where she lives and with all the firs, it felt very majestic. I used 2 lights to pop her out of the dark background. She is a senior at South Eugene and likes lacrosse, cooking, watching movies, reading and being a counselor at Camp Harlow.
I love hiking up Spencers' Butte. One of the traditions of my church (Reformation Fellowship) is to hike up and see the sun rise on Easter morning. I've done it with my kids about 6 times (I now pass when its raining!). I would encourage you to hike up sometime in the dark with flashlights to catch the sun rise. You feel like you are on top of the world. And the view? Wow!
We have experienced all types of weather-including snow. This year, here are a few of the images I took.
The local newspaper, The Register Guard, liked the image below so much that they included a copy in the newspaper.
